About the Non-Slip Traction Tape Rolls
Kahuna Grip Safety, Non-Slip, Adhesive Traction Tape Rolls. Available in 2" & 4" Widths. Each roll is 30' long. This versatile multi-purpose tape can be use to improve traction in slippery conditions.
Why a wet step still wins
Factory finishes in the entry are designed to wipe clean. That same smoothness is why soap and water turn them into a lubricant. You have already felt it — the half-second where the foot goes before you do.
Suction-cup mats hide mildew and let go when the cups fill with film. Coatings wear. The useful fix is texture that stays put on a surface you actually prepped.
What the Non-Slip Traction Tape Rolls actually does
Kahuna Grip Safety, Non-Slip, Adhesive Traction Tape Rolls. Available in 2" & 4" Widths. Each roll is 30' long. This versatile multi-purpose tape can be use to improve traction in slippery conditions. Prep is a clean, dry surface and firm pressure. Most people finish in a few minutes.
Put it where the foot lands: the tub step-in, the shower turn, the stair nose, the ramp threshold. Coverage only matters in that zone. A pretty oval in the middle of a tub you never stand in does nothing.
Match the piece to the foot
Barefoot tubs and showers want a fine texture. Outdoor steps and ramps can take a more aggressive grit. Mixing those up is how you get a complaint, not a safer house.
If you are covering a stair, the nose of the tread is the land zone. A full runner is optional. The nose is not.
How to install the Non-Slip Traction Tape Rolls
Clean until the step is honest, then peel and press. If a previous mat failed, the prep failed first.
- 1
The surface has to be dry and above freezing
Outdoor tape on a damp or icy step is a wasted afternoon. Wait for a dry window.
- 2
Scrub dust, moss, and mineral haze
Desert dust and coastal moss both act like grease under adhesive. Sweep, wash, dry.
- 3
Cut before you peel
Measure the strip. Round the corners with scissors so they do not lift.
- 4
Press hard along the whole length
A roller or the heel of your hand. Edges especially.
- 5
Keep traffic off until it sets
Heat and cold change cure time. A garage in January is slower than a patio in July.
Mistakes that make this fail
Sticking it to soap film
If the step still feels slick after a rinse, you are gluing to lotion. Alcohol wipe until it squeaks.
Covering the wrong zone
The middle of a tub you never stand in is decoration. The step-in, the turn, and the stair nose are the land zones.
Using outdoor grit in a shower
Coarse tape belongs on shoes and weather. Barefoot baths want a fine texture. Mixing those is uncomfortable, not safer.
Walking on it in the first hour
your area heat, cold, and humidity all change set time. Give the adhesive a quiet stretch before the next shower or the next flight of stairs.
Keeping it clean after install
Clean in place. Warm water, a soft brush, and a household cleanser. You do not peel it off for a weekly scrub. Comet or Ajax is what we tell people for the mats.
If a white haze comes back, that is mineral or soap film sitting on the texture. Clean the film. The grit is still there.
If an edge lifts, dry the area, press it back, and keep traffic off. A lifted corner that stays wet is how mildew starts — not a reason to throw the piece away on day three.
Non-Slip Traction Tape Rolls — FAQs
- Will the Non-Slip Traction Tape Rolls stay put on a wet step?
- That is the job — if the surface was actually clean and dry at install. Film under the adhesive is why pieces let go in a week. What Is Anti-Slip Tape and Where Should You Use It? →
- Do I need a contractor?
- No. Clean, dry, peel, press. If you can hang a shower caddy, you can do this. Anti-Slip Tape vs. Mats: Which Should You Use? →
- Will it wreck the finish?

- How do I clean it?
- In place, with household cleaner and a soft brush. You do not need to remove it for a normal clean.
- How much does it cost?
